NATIONAL LAMPOON RADIO HOUR Christmas Show December 1973

I never heard these when they were originally on the air but in the cassette trading days you could once in a while uncover a segment or you might run into a collector cool enough to have a few episodes (THANKS H.R.). But it was the holy grail box set released by Rhino that gave the Michael O’Donoghue (GENIUS) brainchild the audience it deserves by just letting everyone hear these creative and hilarious radio broadcasts again.

“The National Lampoon Radio Hour” ran for a little over a year in 1973/74 and was broadcast every week on “cool” radio stations throughout the U.S. and featured talented young comic writers and actors like John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Harold Ramis, Christopher Guest and Bill Murray and Gilda Radner do a Santa Claus routine that paved the way for their classic characters Todd DiLaMuca and Lisa Loopner.
